The Asics Gel-Nimbus 20 running shoes can be perfect for walkers as the are built to support your ankles and provide a long-term snug fit.
Here are some words from someone who knows, Julie from Kent:
“Following surgery on my feet and constant pain in my ankles and knees after running, I decided it was time to have my gait professionally checked at my local running shop and change my running shoes.
I slightly over pronate when I run so I need something to correct the roll of my feet when they contact the ground.
I have never purchased a pair of Asics before, so when I was asked to try the Gel Nimbus 20 running shoe I was unsure if these would be the right pair for me.
However as soon as I put them on my feet they instantly felt right, soft, comfortable and supportive without being too firm.
The actual shoe is lightweight and durable and the mesh material allows the foot to breath.
Colour wise, the combination is not to everyone’s taste – a bright pink and navy blue! – but as the evenings are drawing in the pink does show up when the light is fading.
The white sole is slightly wider than the foot covering but not too noticeably, and has a gel layer and cushioning.
I was advised even when the gel part of the sole wears thin the padding still provides the comfortable fit and support.
The running shoe I was given was 2 sizes bigger than my normal size, this allowed a finger space between the end of the shoe and my toes. The additional room allows the foot to expand during running without getting crushed.
I tried the shoe on the treadmill first, with a speed of 8.5 km per hour, the shoe felt comfortable even with it being 2 sizes larger, supportive of both my arches and ankles and as my feet hit the treadmill there was no jarring sensation or force.
A few days of wearing the shoes at home, I decided to try them out during my boot camp session which takes place partly on the pavement but mostly on fields.
The ground was hard due to the lack of rain, but the shoe supported me throughout the sessions whilst sprinting, jogging and jumping.
At the end of the session I did not have the achy feet or painful knee joints which I experienced with previously footwear.
I am completely happy with the Asics Gel Nimbus 20 and look forward to the comfort whenever I exercise.”
